Weymouth Pavilion & Ferry Terminal - The scheme so far

The Masterplan sets the framework and parameters for creating a quality development and sense of place to be enjoyed by the community as well as visitors to Weymouth. It will deliver:

  • A commercially viable scheme that will help regenerate the seafront and re-position the resort
  • A new, quality, welcoming ‘destination’ in Weymouth as an extension to the seafront and esplanade, and the creation of a natural pedestrian link between them, the harbour and Hope Square
  • An elevated safe and secure environment for pedestrians separated from traffic and the car deck below
  • Diversity and positive additions to the day and night time economy, investment and tourism
  • Improved leisure attractions and quality tourist facilities, including a remodelled theatre, community space and a new World Heritage Visitor Centre
  • Essential replacement coastal defences for the site and seafront environment
  • A new standard in hotel accommodation
  • A contribution to the council’s strategy of developing the borough as a ‘Centre of Marine Excellence’
  • An environmentally sustainable development with buildings which comply with the latest environmental construction standards incorporating sustainable initiatives to reduce energy consumption and carbon footprint, using one central energy centre for the whole development, renewable energy sources will be investigated as the scheme moves through to the detailed design stage
