A dynamic new ‘entertainment quarter’ featuring shops, restaurants, cafes and bars will provide a destination for both new residents, the town’s present population and visitors.

The proposed mix of retail and leisure elements will be designed to ensure there are high levels of activity and interest at ground floor level along the pedestrian routes and around the proposed town square during both the day and evening.

The cafes, bistros, restaurants and lifestyle retail will be designed to compliment not compete with the existing town centre offering, and create a vibrant focal point for the development. New and improved pedestrian linkages proposed between the Esplanade, harbour edge and Hope Square will enhance the connectivity and activity between these different and individual spaces.

Diversifying Weymouth’s core leisure offering will appeal to different market sectors, which is the key to Weymouth’s future success. New demand will be created not only during peak season but also for visitors who want a different holiday experience, in autumn and winter.
